During its participation in the 30th edition of Doha International Book Fair (DIBF), the Qatari Forum for Authors has announced the inauguration of its new identity cards and membership rules. Moreover, during the DIBF, the Forum will release more than 80 new books by Qatari and Non-Qatari authors written in different languages and produced by a number of Qatari Publishing Houses. In addition, the Forum will organize several workshops and lectures led by the most prominent thinkers and writers from the state and from external states, as part of its ongoing efforts to activate the cultural life, cultivate literary talents and nurture and develop their capabilities. Furthermore, the Forum’s participation in DIBF will be an opportunity for the registration of membership applications by authors wishing to join the Forum. Membership cards will be given to all creators affiliated to the Forum, pending some conditions. The most important prerequisites are that the author wishing to become a member must be at least eighteen years old and of good character and reputation. The member must have no prior conviction of a crime involving moral turpitude, unless rehabilitated and must have not been previously expelled or dismissed from other centre(s) or sports cultural or social club(s) on disciplinary grounds or for reasons related to public morals, public order or the established traditions in the country. A member must also abide by the Forum’s Statute and bylaws, and endeavor to achieve the Forum’s objectives.
